I have much to be thankful for in my life. Thanksgiving is always a time for me to reflect on the many blessings I have been given. In keeping with the holiday, I thought it appropriate to share some good news from some of those I have featured on this blog before.

My congratulations go out to Hans Verkerke. He has been very busy since I featured his words about doing research in Bangladesh. In addition to being named a Fulbright Scholar, he has, as lead author, just published some of his results in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology. For those wishing to find out how study abroad can change lives, both the ones who go and the ones who are in country, you might want to read his words.
Congratulations too go to Anushay Hossain, who continues to speak about the rights of women around the world on PBS, Huffington and Forbes. Her site Anushay's Point, is a great source for news about wonen's rights around the world. She has also recently asked for those interested in doing an internship with her to contact her here. (I know someone very well who did an intership with her last summer and it was an exceptional experience.) For those interested in finding out more about her efforts read my interview with her. I would also like to thank Maneeza, Anushay’s sister, for helping host Hans on his recent trips to Bangladesh. (The world is small indeed.)

Helen has always been a star from the time she was very young (her mom made sure of this), and now she will be able to bring her talent to the Big Apple after she graduates this May. She sill be joining the Asset Management group at JP Morgan. Her advice on how to obtain great internships, develop softs skills, and shine as a global citizen should be read by anyone hoping to make it on Wall Street. Helen received some good advice from Lydia who went to JP Morgan last year (and shared great advice about how to pass the airport test). Now Helen is mentoring younger students at her university. Pay it forward changes lives.
Things have also been going well with Jaime. Her position at Ashoka, a social entrepreneurship company, as the person in charge of creating opportunities for social entrepreneurship in China, has lead to a successful initial program with ENREACH. At the program, students in secondary schools in China found out how to give back to their communities in substantive ways. It went very well and the person in charge of the program from the ENREACH side wrote to me to say that she hopes these programs will expand to many cities all across China. For those who want to find out more, read about her journey from being a student to being a leader in new initiatives that will help many in her home country. I introduced Jaime to the executive from ENREACH, Sherry, and she read my blog and now she will be getting people to translate some of my entries into Chinese that she thinks would be helpful to educators, parents and students. I am grateful that my words might be able to help people that I previously could not reach.
This week has been a record setting one for Josh Anton and his team. Josh’s story has so many twists and turns it took several entries to cover everything he has accomplished and overcome. The Ap he thought up and assembled a team to create and market has been featured all over the world recently. Even Mark Cuban got into the act this week along with Huffington and many other media outlets. To find out more about his entrepreneurial spirit and how he has made a dream come to pass, read his 5 point plan here:

One of the people Josh reached out to for help is Ruika, who shared her template for publishing her book on indiegogo just this past week. She talked with Josh and provided advice and ideas about how he and his team can raise funds to help him and all who use his product.
