Here are a few updates from some of the people who have been profiled on this blog in the last months.

Paul Chen, in his first year of the MBA program at Stanford
has recently been offered admission to Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
Paul has demonstrated leadership, academic brilliance, and most importantly a
commitment to issues related to ethics and justice. The restaurant his mother opened, Gingko, in Charlottesville, has been the meeting and eating place for many students and faculty. The Schezuan menu is a hit with all kinds of people. A documentary about Gingko and the family behind it, will be released later this summer. Samantha, the film-maker, just yesterday, received a grant to make what sounds like an eye-opening and possibly possibly controversial film. I hope to profile her on this site when she has begun this project.

Speaking of film-makers, Eris, continues to garner awards and complete new projects. She was taking suggestions two days ago for a great title to give her fim about an equine clinic. My suggestion did not make the cut. She continues to take exceptional photographs, and she continues to make films. The film on immigrants that won an award at her university has now been picked up by CNN. She has just finished a film on an equine clinic. After graduation, she will move to DC to work with the Smithsonian.

Karl, the person who wrote a profile of his experience at
Choate has just been awarded the Doty Scholarship by his firm Goldman Sachs. He
was far younger than many of the others who applied but his exceptional
abilities and his unique blend of cultures and drive made him a winner. He has
already begun his further studies with the help of this scholarship. I felt genuinely honored that he asked me to write a recommendation on his behalf for this coveted scholarship.

Jessie, who was featured in the superhero series under the
nom de plume of the invisible woman recently updated me several significant honors
she has received at her university. I am very happy to say that my advice about
staying in her current school instead of looking to attend one with a ‘higher’
ranking seems to have worked out well. Here are her words: I wanted to let you know that I am admitted into Finance Academy, an honor academy for top Finance students and got a summer internship at an investment management company. Meanwhile, I am waiting for the offer of summer internship position from PWC.
I think I made a right decision of not spending my energy on college transfer but on my career development instead. I truly thank you for your sincere advice and hope that you continue your work on helping many more once-lost students like me. I believe in my future and will continue working hard towards my goal of becoming a management consultant.

Angang, the talented musician, will bring her skills to one
of the top of the top graduate schools. She is still deciding which will be her final
choice but she has already earned a place at several of the most elites schools
in the US. In what may be one of the great example of understatement I have ever read what follows is part of an email I received about one of the schools which accepted her: Last week I got admitted to Stanford, which has a pretty good program
Jenni, who gathered the comments of her fellow graduates from one of the
best high schools in the world, KMLA, has just completed a semester abroad in
Kunming, China. Her experience was so positive that she wanted to stay in China this
summer to do an internship in Shanghai. Here is a snippet from her email from last week: I got the word from Intralink Shanghai, I got the internship! Thank you so much for all your help :))

Anushay, media star and women’s rights advocate from Bangladesh,
continues to publish her blog and commentaries on Huffington and other popular sites. She also continues to gain recognition for passion and talent to fight for women’s rights across the world.
She recently met Vice President Joe Biden as well as Doctor Ruth. Not many can say that they have met those two (or some other uncommon pairs such as Angelina Jolie and Queen Noor).

Hans was recently profiled on his university’s President’s
report as the undergraduate student who best embodies success in research and
commitment to a global vision. In addition, he was even more recently awarded a
prestigious Fulbright scholarship to continue his research in Bangladesh. In
what underscores the name of this blog, Only Connect, Hans will be getting help
from Anushay’s family in Bangladesh. The family has hosted a previous Fulbright
winner and is committed to improving the lives of people in their country
through their roles in in media, politics, and industry. Hans and I will be travelling up to DC tomorrow to meet with a part of the family.
