Questions:
When you read this essay did you laugh?
Why?
If you did laugh, What does this say about you, given that this college essay describes the death of a loved one?
Do you think this is the 'voice' the author usually uses with his friends?
If this student had high grades, a strong academic program, and strong school support should this essay be a significant factor i the admission decision?
If this student came from a very low income household and this is the first person to go off to college, would this information change how you might evaluate this essay? Why or why not?
